Man, 72, With Severe Memory Impairment Missing In Western Mass

Police in Western Massachusetts have asked residents to be on the lookout for a 72-year-old man with severe memory impairment who walked away from a hotel on Tuesday, July 18.

Henry "Hank" Appleton was last seen in n Hampshire County at the Courtyard Marriott, 43 Russell St. in Hadley, around 2 a.m., state police said. He attempted to get a cab to Northampton before he left the hotel on foot and could be unaware of where he is. 

He was last seen walking at Amherst College on Dickinson Street around 4:30 p.m. Police do not know which way he was headed. 

Appleton does not have a cell phone and isn't driving a car. 

He is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing about 190 pounds. He was wearing a navy-blue shirt with white flower outlines that had a tear on one side, dark shorts, and hiking shoes, police said. 

Hadley police ask anyone who sees Hank Appleton or knows his whereabouts to contact officers at 413-584-0883 or call 911 immediately.
